Our Ministries
The ministries at The Open Door Missionary Baptist Church are in existence in response to the mandate given by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:13 which states “Ye are the salt of the earth…” Salt has a number of positive properties. It heals, preserves, disinfects, and makes unsavory things tasteful. Each one of our ministries is designed to accomplish these four things in the Spirit. The duty of the Church is to be a source of ministry, help and hope for the surrounding neighborhood, greater community, the city, state and nation. All of our auxiliaries, groups and departments are designed to strengthen and equip the believer and to win the unsaved to Jesus Christ.
A.P. Hines Memorial Library
The church library is named the A.P. Hines Memorial Library and Media Center in honor of the late Pastor, Rev. A.P. Hines. Pastor Hines served for many years along with his wife Mother Clara Hines, as the spiritual leader of The Open Door Missionary Baptist Church until his illness rendered him unable to server as pastor. The church congregation has the opportunity to advance and grow spiritually through reading in the study of God’s Word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ as well as the use of audio/visuals. The library lends books and other important materials to serve the needs of the congregation. We invite and welcome your participation with gifts or memorials to the library. We are very thankful to God for this wonderful tool in advancing the ministry of our Church.
Children’s Church
Children’s Church is a special worship time for children. It takes place concurrently with the 11:00 service. Children’s Church is located in the Mitchell Auditorium. It is divided into segments devoted to the children and their needs as follows: Devotion time, Activity time, Missionary time, Class Time, and Snack time. The objective of The Children’s Church is to teach children about Jesus Christ, so that each child will accept Jesus as his/her personal Savior and Lord.

Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF)
The Christian Women’s Fellowship promotes the development of a closer relationship with Christ through the study of God’s Word, worship, prayer and fellowship with other Christian women. CWF is designed to teach women practical and spiritual balance. They seek to impart the Gospel of Jesus Christ to other women who may have no knowledge of Him.
Christian Counseling Ministry
Although our Christian counselors often use skills from the field of secular psychology and counseling, they recognize that the Bible, not psychology, is the final authority. Therefore, our counselors seek Biblical responses to day-to-day issues in order to carefully discover those areas in which a Christian may be disobedient to the principles and commands of Scripture and to help him learn how to lovingly submit to God’s will.
Evangelism Team (E-Team)
The Evangelism (“E”) Team is dedicated to promoting the advancement of the Kingdom of God and the spread of the Gospel wherever it can. The E-Team utilizes testimonies, witnessing and prayer tracks to spread the Word of Jesus Christ while they are canvassing the local community. Their goal is to promote spiritual guidance and growth in Christ. The E-Team also ministers to individuals in correctional facilities. They share the message, that there is a better way of life through Jesus Christ.
Health and Community Services Ministry
We are “IN” the world, although not “OF” the world; and we need information that will help improve the quality of our lives as Christians. The Health and Community Services Ministry brings useful spiritual and secular knowledge together for the growth and edification of the church body. The Ministry also sponsors The Annual Health Fair, as well as other community outreach activities.
Hope for Hurting Hearts Ministry
After the death of someone you love you don’t have to go through the pain alone. The goals of Hope for Hurting Hearts Ministry are:
- To provide insight and assistance to persons who have personally experienced the death of a loved one or who are dealing with a impending death of a loved one.
